at The Northeast corner of First Avenue View Full Building Profile

Review of 401 East 84th Street by Carter Horsley

This handsome, 29-story, apartment building, which is known as The Dunhill, was erected in 1987 as a condominium and it has 88 units.

The red-brick tower has sidewalk landscaping, a large lobby, a canopied entrance, balconies, a garage, a doorman, a health club, bay windows and a roof deck.

It was developed by Arun Bhatia, the principal of Ganbir Corporation, and designed by Liebman Liebman Associates.

Mr. Bhatia acquired the site, which was a vacant supermarket for about seven years, from a Spanish group that, he said, "got cold feet when they started to get into the New York market."

There is good cross-town bus service on 86th Street but the nearest subway station is at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street. There are many schools in the area which is close to the Carl Schurz Park along the East River.
