The 141 Condominium, 141 East 55th Street: Review and Ratings

between Lexington Avenue & Third Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 141 East 55th Street by Carter Horsley

This 12-story apartment building at 141 East 55th Street was erected in 1956 and converted to a condominium in 1981. It has 87 apartments.

It and two other beige-brick nearby buildings - 150 East 56th Street and 140 East 56th Street - are quite similar and were all built in 1956 and 1957.

Of the three, this one has the grandest entrance. It has a curved and angled stainless steel marquee over a one-step-high platform. It is quite distinctive and elegant.

The buildings are a few blocks south of Bloomingdale's.

This building has a doorman and discrete air-conditioners and was designed by Greenberg & Ames.
